The NY Times first got its planting in 1835 when James Gordon Benett Sr first founded The New York Herald. In 1852 the first copy of the New York Daily Times was published. The purpose of the paper was to present the new in an objective manner. Unfortunately, the paper fell amongst some financial troubles and was sold to Adolph S. Ochs. Ochs worked with the paper and helped build the great vessel we know today as the NY Times.
